Plant in the Air
Branding & Packaging
Branding & packaging design
Plant in the Air, an online Tillandsia Supply Co.
Creative concept
I wanted to create a friendly and clean brand identity that would engage and captivate both seasoned plant parents as well as young and trendy Instagram plant bloggers. I wanted to stay in the modern and minimal style that is closely associated with Tillandisa and even succulents.
In order to distinguish Plant in the Air, I drew inspiration from geometric minimalism that can be found in Scandinavian design to help articulate minimalism in a fun way.

Process
I built both my pattern and my logo out of a few basic shapes that were all derived from squares. This allowed me to maintain cohesion within the simplification of shapes and visual ideas.
To make my pattern I built a 10x12 grid and laid out the shapes in different colors to form geometric images. Above I laid out each shape I used to make my pattern and a section of my pattern with the shapes used to create it.
For the logo, I initially played with typographic logos that lacked the sophistication and friendliness that my pattern had. I then scrapped that idea and began to play with the 'P' I created within my pattern for a logo.

Physical applications:
Along with the branding elements, I created multiple physical applications for the brand itself. I made a Tillandsia holding box, shipping tape, a care document, business cards, tote bags and even shopping bags for local farmers market stands.
